Euro Trip Itinerary--Day 3
« on: April 23, 2013, 01:12:04 PM »

Day 3 of our Euro Trip will be on Thursday, May 2st at 9 PM EST in Feldynn's lounge.  We will visit the Trappist breweries, makers of the best beer in the world bar none, then head out for some laps at Spa.

Edit:

This third leg of our Euro Trip will be run under the same (mostly) parameters as the previous two.  Please drive the car you drove in the previous race, on sports soft tires with a fixed sports kit suspension, twin plate clutch, semi-racing flywheel, and carbon drive shaft.  Plan on roughly 70 minutes of racing, or 26 laps.

The only difference between this race and the previous is that this race will run with weak penalties in place.  There are a handful of places at Spa where you can get busted, though several where you can drive wherever the hell you want without recourse.

Date:  May 2rd, 2013
Time:  9:00 Eastern
Track:  Spa
Lounge:  Feldynn's
Laps:  26
Tires:  Sports soft
Penalty:  Weak

Mods:
  • Fixed Sports Kit suspension
    Twin plate clutch
    Semi-racing flywheel
    Carbon drive shaft

If you want to qualify, show up in Feldynn's lounge at 8:50.  I've had a beer in my hand for the last hour so if there's something I've missed, please let me know.

I'm probably not going to make it tonight, had a sinus pressure type headache since I got up this morning that still hasn't gone away and it's making it hard to concentrate on anything too terribly taxing so I figure it's safest to not trying racing (or more likely crashing).  If the next round of pills knocks it out I may log in for the race if there's time but for now I'm going to err on the side of caution.

Sorry guys.

Things have calmed down here for the night. I should be able to make it out for the race in the Aston.

It's been too long since I've done much formatting, so this is as good as it gets for right now.  Only five tonight, so just five guys have times for both legs (remember, the event coordinator at IRR butchered the first race and has since been reassigned).  Rick won the first race while Turbo took care of all comers in the second race.  Due to a squirrel crossing the road and Turbo trying to avoid it, he lost a handful of seconds in the final left sweeper and that cost him the overall lead.

Three weeks from now is the final scheduled track day on this Euro Trip, in France.

That was a fun race. Not surprisingly, penalties were a factor, I think mostly in two corners....rouge and the set of rights leading into the back 'straight'. It was one of the best races I've ever run. Until the last lap, no big mistakes...no penalty, no spins, no damage. There were some great battles at times, either watching the gaps times or bumper to bumper, side by side.

That spin on the last lap was crazy. I was going a bit slower than normal, and must have put in too much input, so the car got wild. I hit the wall on the left side of the track, then couldn't keep it straight in the chicane. It almost ate up my entire lead over you Rick.

Thanks for the race guys.

Lot of fun last night!  Lots of close fun racing with everyone, can't ever go wrong with that!  I had one spin and one penalty (first!  haha) but otherwise I ran a clean error free race.  Congrats to all, everybody was fast!  I wish I was closer to the front, but that Jaguar's appetite for premium 93 did me no favors in the pits :-X

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the finale!
