That was a blast last night guys. I want to thank everyone for a great time and like Turbo said going 230 mph + and laughing myself silly was dangerous.

I think by the end we had a pretty good handle on the cautions, well at least we cut back on the accidents during cautions  .

I think we finished with 5 cars within 1/3 of a second.

I can't imagine what we have in store when we go to Montegi.

Great fun and thank you all for a wild and wacky couple of hours. Oh and great idea Dude an the cruise control cocktail refills although I don't feel so good this morning.

If we would all run a staggered formation under caution, it would help those fender benders.

I guess I need to put the bong away and try that drinking-thing .....  8)

Good times, although I think the stress and tiredness of the day began to catch up to me towards the end. Although admittedly things started off kinda rough considering I completely forgot Dawson and Wolf are one and the same.

Thinking today about last nights race, I may make a small modification or two.  Namely I may reduce the number of laps for both Motegi and Route X to better accommodate the fact they'll be run during major holiday months and provide enough real time to handle cautions.  Also I'm thinking about dropping the one car accident caution, but I'm undecided at this point.  I'll review the entire replay this weekend, sort out the points, make some decisions and take some photos. I'm open to opinions if any one has any.

I had a wonderful time thanks dlrws6 for the evnet and everyone for showing up. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time.

I don't know why my crew chief told me to wreck the pace car.   :laugh

dlrws6, perhaps we could set a limit for how many times somebody can go into the pits?  Be it for fuel, tires, damage, etc.

You've got me curious, can you elaborate on what you have in mind?  My initial thought is that there could be one issue.  I can see some one (maybe me) slapping the wall enough time to use up their pit stops early leaving them little choice as the race goes on to either break the rules or limp around with damage.

Also here is race one results.  I'll add them to the front post and prepare the Motegi info, in another post.

Round 2: Motegi SuperSpeedway

Changes from the original event are in red.

When 12-5-12?
100 laps (about 1 hour)
Heavy Damage
Cautions (see below)
Caution speed limit 60mph
Any racing tire combination (changeable during the race)

Cautions:
To help reduce the frequency, cautions are now a maximum of 4 laps, or less, and car vs. car collisions. Accidental single car wall collisions, unless caused by two or more cars colliding, will not count towards calling a caution. As before race back to the start finish, and restarts are also at the start finish line.  Cars not caught up to the pack or still on pit road at the end of Lap 4 will have to race their way back up.  Lapped cars are permitted to pass the leaders and circle around to rejoin the lead lap. Finally pit road will stay open for the entire caution period.

Pit Stops:
We are going to use the real world pit in and out lanes.  Pit in is on the back stretch entering turn 3 down on the apron of the track and pit exit is on the apron coming out of turn two on the back stretch. FYI for those that played it. This is the same pit procedure used in Gran Turismo 3.

Finally let me know if the date is a problem and we can try to adjust it if necessary.

Nice map.  Its a little dated though. After the repaving several of the older unused areas were removed/grassed over.  In fact Gt5s version of the bus stop no longer exists in the real world.

Ok, ok... you got it.  If any one can help test and make sure the cars are balanced for DRC, let me know. I'm up for a Paul Revere 250 @ Daytona Road. Same cars near or same rules. Medium Tires.  A GT5 simulation of a real world race run in the 1980s in the IMSA GTP series.

I'll set up another thread later on for testing and evnet info and I got an experiment for this Wed. as well.

I'm a little confused.  The next race is at Motegi but you're discussing DRC.  Did I miss something? :-\

The next race is Motegi.  Dude wants a race held at DRC.  I'm going to do it but it is a seperate event from the Oval Series.

Also, nix the Paul Revere refrence.  I got confused. It was a GT race and not a GTP race back in the 80s. Still the distance might work.

EDIT: Now it has its own home  ;D

I'd prefer to see the same cars used through the entire series. But since we are as small of a group as we are, if it comes down to a situation of race or no race, then run which ever one you want.
