So I finally got around to building a proper rig of sorts for my wheel!

This is the old / temporary setup I was using before, a Walmart Special "STudent Computer Desk" thing with my monitor on a build in desk.  It was wobbly as all hell, even the power-on calibration spin thing the wheel does would shake it violently from side to side..

Since I also use the same screen for my PC as I do the PS3 I wanted to make something that could hold the screen / console and also have a pull-out keyboard tray and mouse "shelf".  I guess you could call it the ""Always" Driving Rig" because it's got wings :D, one of the left for the mouse and one on the right for the shifter.

Still using an office chair right now (obviously, LOL), but I made sure to leave the option open to mount a real seat to it in the future.  Only thing I'm thinking about changing right away is the angle of the pedals, it was quite usable last night but I think I made it a bit too steep but it shouldn't be too big of a deal to fix that if I decide to.

Very nice upgrade Feldyn!  If anything, with the current chair I'd think you'd want the pedals angled exactly opposite that, so they get lower as they get away from you.  I imagine you were getting shin splints trying to drive like that!

Thanks Phreak!  It took a few races to get used to and I did get a bit of a cramp at one point but it was surprisingly comfortable for the most part :), I'll see how it drives over the weekend though I'm already formulating a plan to drop the high end of the pedals table a bit if needed.

Looks awesome Feldynn but is there anyway to get the monitor closer?  Looks like it is way too far away.  I think you would be happier if it was just past your wheel.

Nice work there. Hope you get great enjoyment out of it. And I agree with 11 about monitor placement.

Side bar here I have decided to make some upgrades myself. Will post updates to this thread as soon as i have something to show. But we are speking of major changes like the PS3, the disc and the actual car seat are going to be all that remains of current set up.

Thanks guys :).  I'll have a think on the screen placement, I might be able to rig up something between the console and wheel.  That would mean I could move the monitor platform closer to the wheel some, sort of between the console and wheel but at it's current height, I think I have enough left overs to actually make that work!
