I've not gotten into the mods out there yet... can someone remind me of b est place to find them and which ones are most awesome?

thanks

The best place to find the good mods will be right here.  Soon.

I'm working on an idea that will allow us to have a central place for all mod content.  It will include a comment system, a rating system, etc.

It should also work as a direct download system.  And by that I mean no mediafire, zippyshare, 4share type bullshit.  You click on the link, your save dialog pops up.  Simple and easy and worry free.

I hope to have it up and running sometime this weekend.

Now that is downright cool, even if I don't have Asshata Corsa.  :)

Ok so that was much easier than I thought.  The downloads system is active.  There is a new button on the main menu.

Click it and it will take you to the downloads page.

This page will contain several categories (not all are there yet).

Click the category you want and download away.

Right now I have it set so that only admins can add a download.  I'll most likely keep it this way for a while.  I keep up to date with mods quite a bit so I'll most likely be doing the lions share of the work anyway, so it may stay this way.   Look at it this way.... you'll have to do nothing except download to your hearts content. :)

If you find a mod that isn't there, let me know about it and I'll add it asap.

I was somewhat wrong on one thing.... the SMF system didn't allow for any files over 5mb.  This obviously wouldn't work for tracks and stuff as some tracks are as big as 100mb.   Therefore I had to use an external link system.  Mediafire, dropbox, etc.  The nice thing for you guys is that it will still be a direct download system.  All the mediafire, dropbox type work will be done on my end.  It's more work for me, less for you.  That's fine though.  It actually works out better when I really think about it, as this way it will not be using up Baked's bandwidth.

I'll keep it up to date as best I can. :)

You'll notice there isn't much there yet.  Now that I got this far today, I'll have plenty of time over the weekend to populate the system.

Any questions, just ask. :)

I just put Lime Rock in there... can someone test it for me please to make sure it's working as intended?

Thanks.

Also, I plan to create a new thread somewhere (or perhaps a new sub-forum) so we have some place to talk about this stuff.

Yes, there is a comment system within the downloads system, but I think it will be easier to discuss things in a thread or sub-forum.

Plus this way we will be able to make new posts when we update or upload something, making it easier to know if something new has been added.  This will be especially useful for those that use the "unread posts" or "recent topics" features of the forum.

Things like this might make me have to reconsider the idea of going to PC based software. Nice job Wiz.

I'm probably one of few that doesn't use cockpit view, but in case I'm not, I found a way to get cockpit sounds on either bumper or hood cam.

Make sure you're in cockpit view:

- press the "Home" key on your keyboard, which will enable a Dev menu
- write "set driverEye.z n" (without the quotes.  where n is a numeric value, i.e. 1.  Pay attention, case sensitive!)
- press Enter
- press Home key again to exit Dev menu

That's it!

I've found 1.5 to be a decent value to enter for bumper cam.  This was only tested on one car though.  Other cars may need a different value.

Basically what's happening is it's moving the view forward.  So for hood cam, the value would need to be less or else you'd end up in bumper.  If you put in a negative number, you'd be in the back seat.

Hope that makes sense.

For me it's been a massive improvement as the cockpit sounds are much better.

Enjoy! :)

Edit:  forgot to mention that you'll need to do this every time.  It doesn't save.

ok so this is some of the most fun I've had solo simracing in a while.  KTM Xbow at a track called simply "Hillclimb".  It's in the downloads area.  I highly recommend grabbing this one.

As always, make sure to watch in HD.

Thanks Wiz.  I haven't had much of a chance to play at all these days.  I'm really looking forward to Trento Bondone coming to AC.  Any word on how close that is to being released?

Thanks for all the info Wiz.

How does the downloading of the tracks work, do I save them in the AC folder. Never done PC sim before.

Having heard anything recently.  I'm assuming it's coming with version 1.0 but don't know when that will be either.

I'm going to re-upload some of the current content, plus add a couple new tracks too.

So don't download anything until I give the ok.

I'm going to make it so it's a little easier for you guys to install stuff.

I'll whip up a quick tutorial on how to install everything in a bit. :)
