Leaderboard System:
Quote
If you're interested in a leaderboard system, RSR LiveTiming is the way to go.  Note that laps must be run in either Hotlap mode or Race mode in order to register.

Download app here - http://www.radiators-champ.com/RSRLiveTiming/RsrLiveTime_ACv2.0.013.rar

Installation instructions here - http://nkpro.radiators-champ.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=257&Itemid=115

Example leaderboard here - http://www.radiators-champ.com/RSRLiveTiming/index.php?page=rank&car=45&track=15&controller_type=all&tyre_type=all&rank_type=all&community=all&friends=all&p=1

Enable Dev Apps:
Quote
You can enable the Dev Apps by doing the following...
On your install drive, navigate to "Program files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\assettocorsa\system\cfg" and open the assetto_corsa.ini.
There you have to change ENABLE_DEV_APPS=0 from 0 to 1 and then just save it.
When its activated you get alot more default apps to play with.  For example a photomode app, seat position app, downforce app, suspension app, and a few more.

One (free) way of recording videos to post to Youtube:
Quote
It's a program called MSI Afterburner, which can be downloaded from here - http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner/images/download-bt1.gif

MSI Afterburner is 100% free!

Once installed, there's a few settings that need to be tweaked if you want to capture in HD.

Click on "Settings"

Then click on the Video Capture tab.

The settings that I use and/or need to be changed are circled in yellow.

Some of the settings are user preference, but I'd recommend these and here's why....

1.  The difference when watching youtube vids in 720 vs. 1080 is negligible in my opinion.  Recording in 1080 would increase the size of the capture considerably.  It'll also make your hardware work harder and possibly cause stuttering if it can't keep up.  Not worth it.  It'll also take a long time to upload due to the huge file size.  I highly recommend sticking with 720P.

2.  Youtube videos are only capable of playing at 30 FPS, so recording at anything higher is kind of a waste of time/resources.

3.  Going higher than 85% quality will also cause the same concerns as seen in point #1.  Possible stuttering, huge file size, etc.

The other settings (gamma, decoder) I'm not 100% sure what they are/do.  I found a tutorial online and they recommend those settings.

Set the hotkey to whatever you want.

I recommend using a destination folder on a separate drive if you have one.  It'll help performance as well.

How to install skins:
Quote
A lot of skins can be found here - http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?forums/car-models-and-skins-modding.24/

Once downloaded, copy the skin folder and navigate to "Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\content\cars", find the car folder you need to add the skin to, open it, then open that cars "Skins" folder.  Then paste the skin folder in there.

Most skins you find will likely be in zip or rar format.  If zip, just unzip the file into the correct skin folder.  If rar, you'll need a program called winrar. Find it here - http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm   When going through the winrar setup, make sure to uncheck "ZIP" on the "Use this program to open these file types" screen.  If you don't, winrar will become your default zip extractor which you don't want.

Sharpen the graphics of the game:
Quote
(Warning: this will cause your FPS to take a minor hit):
If you're on Windows 7 and have a card that supports dx11, go to this page on the official forum and follow the directions.

http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/sweetfx-sharper-ac-for-win-7-dx11-full-program-preset.6104/

SweetFX is a tool used to mess around with how your games look.  This particular file doesn't do much except sharpen the image.

Cockpit sounds (which are better than all other views) for bumper cam and/or hood cam:
Quote
I'm probably one of few that doesn't use cockpit view, but in case I'm not, I found a way to get cockpit sounds on either bumper or hood cam.

Make sure you're in cockpit view:

- press the "Home" key on your keyboard, which will enable a Dev menu
- write "set driverEye.z n" (without the quotes.  where n is a numeric value, i.e. 1.  Pay attention, case sensitive!)
- press Enter
- press Home key again to exit Dev menu

That's it!

I've found 1.5 to be a decent value to enter for bumper cam.  This was only tested on one car though.  Other cars may need a different value.

Basically what's happening is it's moving the view forward.  So for hood cam, the value would need to be less or else you'd end up in bumper.  If you put in a negative number, you'd be in the back seat.

You'll need to do this every time.  It doesn't save.

Track installation:
Quote
- Navigate to the drive where your Steam install is.

- Drill down to the following folder....

- Program Files(x86)\Steam\Steamapps\common\assettocorsa*\content\tracks

- Once you've reached the tracks folder, you should see the tracks that come with the game.  If you see those, you're in the right place.

- Minimize this window if necessary and go open the zip file for the track you want to install.

- Copy the folder contained in the zip.  Paste it into the tracks folder.

That's it!

Side note:  this is the exact same way you install skins, apps, cars, everything.  I can write up specific tutorials for those things, but it should be fairly easy to figure out once you got the tracks installation down pat.

*I recommend putting a shortcut to this folder somewhere easily accessible.  I have mine on my desktop.  This way you won't have to drill down like that every time you want to install a track.

I ran a few laps (10 or so) last night.  Managed to get around 127.5.  I may have been expecting too much with all the praise it's been getting and I don't think my wheel was set up quite right.  That said it was very good.  In the same ballpark as rFactor2 and iRacing.  Somethings better some things not as good.  Took me a few laps to figure out that I had to blip the throttle on downshifting.  I don't remember having to do that with pcars and the mclaren in iracing has an autoblip.  I'll write more after I've set up my wheel better.
