Exactly, room was maxed at 11
Sorry Phreak. It wasn't the only thing I messed up tonight. We ran in Feldynn's room. I checked most of the parameters for the race and that was the first mistake. I checked the laps, whether fuel consumption and tire wear was set to fast, and crap like that. What I forgot to check was the race finish delay countdown thingy. I don't think it was set at more than 30...so I've only got two finish times (meaning the guys finishing poorly are still very much in this Cannonball Run type thing).
1) Rick--1:06:28.579
2) Badaboya--1:06:29.234
3) Chrome--+1 second
4) Dawson--+2 seconds
5) ExXbox--+3 seconds
6) EnyoGrill--+4 seconds
7) TurboTuna--+5 seconds
Mmacek--+6 seconds
9) Feldynn--+7 seconds
10) MondoTuna--+8 seconds
11) Cipriani--+9 seconds
We off to a slow start due to an update and guys getting booted left and right. The race finally got started about 10 minutes late. Then Grill joined the room. We waiting a few laps to see if Dude was going to join and after realizing he wasn't, we restarted the race so Grill could join us.
As the race reached double digit laps, guys started to realize preparation was key for this race because the issue at hand was one pit stop or two. It could be done either way in the Alfa, but if you were going to only make one stop, you needed to know it early. Cip realized it early, Mac didn't.
It turns out, it only sort of mattered. I went for one stop while Badaboya went for two. We effectively finished in a dead heat.
Question time: As I started getting ready for this, I went out in the Jag, ran it hard and got 14 laps before needing fuel. I figured a 30 lap race would be perfect...if you ran crazy hard, you might or might not make 30 laps with just one stop.
After that, I ran the Aston. Ran it hard and again got 14 laps, but had just enough fuel for 1 more, meaning 15 was only going to require one stop. Then I ran the Alfa. Ran it hard and got 14 laps, only to realize that if I ran it a bit easier, I could get 16, if the tires would last. I could run 1:58 flat in the Alfa, but ruined the tires. If I help back and ran 2:01 laps, I could get 16 laps on the fuel and could probably get the same on tires.
So, I knew I could get by on one stop, but I had to baby the car. I find the strategy in racing as entertaining as the racing itself. But I get the feeling others don't feel the same way. For future events, do you want strategy to play any part, or do you not simply want to hop in the car, drive the shit out of it, and not worry about anything else?
