I have not watched any broadcast tv in about a month since we got rid of cable. And seeing racing seems to be the only thing I truly miss.  :'(

We spent a few years without cable.  The only thing that was tough to replace was sports.  Netflix is a great substitute for shows.  We now have TV (DSL).  Got a pvr for $50 on boxing day and our monthly bill is the same as what internet alone used to cost me.  Internet speed isn't as good but latency is better so it is actually better for gaming.

I caught the last 20 mins of yesterday's Rolex race.  I think the incident between the Vette and BMW is a perfect example to go with our discussion.  Myself, I think the Vette should not have tried to stick his nose in where he did, even though he was faster in that section (I know I would not have).  He should have set up on that corner instead for a pass next corner, instead of a pass where he tried.

Opinions on the incident?

I totally agree with you, the BMW driver agrees with you, the race stewards agree with you, the Vette driver agrees with you.  I wonder if agent agrees with you.

Yacaman's incident at :49,
at 1:58 the orange car makes a good pass on Rojas.  Rojas tries to keep up with him into the next corner but doesn't have enough overlap.  He ends up hitting the orange car and gets the penalty for it.
at 4min the number 5 car makes a good pass
4:29 is the incident between the BMW and the Vette

Your posts make it sound like you want to make moves that others would find objectionable.  That makes me wonder if you thought the move the Vette made was good hard racing or if it really was a penalty.  If I have misinterpreted what you've written, I'm sorry.

Well, I guess my thoughts-to-words don't convey very well.  I apologize.

You have me at a disadvantage as I wasnt following along that closely. I was surprised at being called upon for any thoughts i may have on the matter.  I'll take a look ...

Sometimes less is more, so I'll work on more of less.  :-[

That looked to be a bad attempt at a pass.

Yeah, bad idea. Trying to turn nothing into something. Not something a pro should do. The leader probably didn't even know (or certainly expect) there was overlap.

Good but I'm at a loss understanding what aspect of your racing that other tuna might not like.

Sorry, I still don't get it.  I thought everyone liked close racing.

Close racing...sometimes it's safe, sometimes not so much. Going two wide through the double left at the start of Rome reverse is only safe if someone gives up the second part...if both cars try to push hard through the second part, there will probably be contact - the inside guy will push a bit to hard and push to the middle of the track to keep speed, or the outside guy will turn in too much to get a better apex ...someone - or both - loses. If someone gives, he is two lengths behind the guy in front, both cars come out alive, and he's set up for a run down the next straight. That's still close racing. You don't have to be side by side every corner to be close or tight or competing. Timing is important to the value of tight racing.
