I'm curious to know what you gents think about the brakes/braking in this game.

It may just be me, but I feel I am putting a little more brake input than I did in GT5.  I don't know how else to explain it.  On known corners where I just needed a tap of the brakes now requires a little longer/stronger tap.  Does that make sense?

I may just be going nuts, or my petal is weakening, or I need a bong hit, or another beer.  Probably all of the above.

What are your takes?  Thanks

The brakes are hard for me to read.  I know they are way different, but I'm not sure in exactly what ways...

I do think you can brake harder without causing them to fade.

I think the braking distances, even without upgrading to the racing brakes, is shorter.

Cars definitely can get upset by the wrong brake inputs a lot more easily than in "5".

So far those things seem a bit more realistic to me, but IDK.

For the most part, I actually find myself using less brake in GT6 than "5".

I'm with you Boston.  I've noticed I don't brake much.  I feel like I do, but the red line doesn't always agree with what I'm thinking.  Sometimes, by the time I'm putting my foot through the floorboard, it's too late and I'm past the point of no return and the wall is about to get painted.

Regarding the "red line", I've noticed a LOT of problems with the driving line, much worse than GT5.

It's way too early on a lot of turns. I don't normally use the driving line, but turned it on for Ascari, as that track is a beast. After doing a few laps and seeing where the true braking zone is, on some, the line was turning red long before you needed to be braking. The flashing red number is the same way, and probably uses the same trigger.

I think there is some difference again though it's hard for me to tell because I was horribly inconsistent with braking in GT5 anyway lol, I do wonder though if the new tire model has something to do with the different feel too though.  So we've got better grip from the fancy new tire stuff so we're seeing shorter braking distances with equivalent tires in GT6 than compared to GT5, maybe? :)

I found the edit: (suggested) gear indicator to be wonky as hell. It would show a gear or two lower than I felt comfortable being in.

another difference from "5" I believe I've noticed is that pumping the brakes has mroe benefit for allowing the stopping power of your brakes/tires to recover, thus giving you more ability to save the car before going off after a hard brake.

So, if you're braking very hard and still going off, try to let off briefly and reapply and see if that helps.

OF course, there's ALWAYS a point where too late is too late :D

Anybody notice some of the race car's steering seems a little slow, or maybe a big dead spot at center, running at Goodwood, but nowhere else? The 2 main ones I've had this happen with were, the Merc GT3, and the Bilstein R8. Might be just be a controller thing, and a hidden "aid", but it is more of a nuisance.  :-\

I'd forgotten quite how much I really disliked the Historic Race Car race(s) from GT5, the set in GT6 is just as displeasing.. 2J and Toyota 7 can just :fuck right off as far as I'm concerned! :D

I ended up just using SRF and TC and throwing all but the 52k Stage 3 engine mod on the Anniversary Daytona Coupe to get it done and out of the way, it just irks me that they put cars that top out around 600PP or a little over against that ridiculous fan car and the 700PP+ Toyota 7.  Everything else so far I've been able to do fine with no TC and relatively low PP / barely upgraded cars using lesser tires, just that 2J and T 7 are so unequal compared to all the other cars in that particular class :(.  Still it's done now so I don't need to gripe on it any more ;D
