I just earned my 1st Platinum trophy ever, thanks to GT6.

Not quite 100% yet, though.

That was my first platinum trophy also, more than likely the last to!

I am stuck at 98% mainly because of the 3 drifting Coffee Cup events. There is nothing in GT that trains us to be able to drift, so they remain unchallenged.

The new "Drifting Trials" mode should allow for on-line training sessions and I am interested in getting these done.

Something I found out, not too long ago, when in any drift mode, the steering angle is increased. Meaning a car will turn much sharper in drift mode, than in any other mode. Somebody had photos showing the difference at GTP, and it was very noticeable.

Also, I swear the traction level, or something is different in those coffee break drift events. They are tough to get use to, and definitely tougher to be smooth.

Do you use the controller for the drifting? If not you need to. It was easy for me to do it that way. YMMV.  ;D

I don't know how long ALL OF THIS has be up, but I learned a few things about drifting from it, esp how drifting is scored.

I don't know how long ALL OF THIS has be up, but I learned a few things about drifting from it, esp how drifting is scored.

How To Drift

Drift Angle
Drifts are judged according to the angle of the car relative to the ideal racing line for cars which grip the track normally. If your drift angle is too high, it will be deemed a spin, and your points for the drift will be reset. The problem with this is, what the game considers too much angle is set way too low. I've pulled off some wicked high angle drifts, only to see the score not count it.

Distance from the Racing Line
You will be judged according to how far you strayed from the ideal racing line for cars which grip the track normally. The farther you are away from the racing line, the more points you will lose. More often than not, you can just hug the inside all the way around a turn, and even have your front wheels in the grass, scoring huge.

Speed
You will be judged on the speed of your car during the drift. The higher your speed, the more points you will earn. bullshit

Duration
You will be judged on the duration of the drift. Sustain a drift that scores highly according to the three criteria above, and the number of points you earn will increase rapidly. This is where it can be exploited by spending a ton of time in the drift zone, by using an extremely high powered car(Speed 12) that will maintain a drift in a high gear, but at ridiculously slow speeds. The key being high gear, low speed, fooling the game into thinking you're going fast.

The score system is severly flawed, and has been since GT5.

Hopefully it does some good for this, and the pit stop thing.

Thanks for your efforts MGT.

Well, with pCARS coming out in a few months from now, GT is going to need all of our help that we can give, otherwise pCARS will be too attractive to an awful lot of players. I still don't get the feeling that PD is as worried as they should be, so as long as we can supply PD will help, let's do our best to give it to them.

The biggest thing that would help PD, is to communicate with it's customers. Tell us where they/we stand right now. What's going on with the highly anticipated additional features we are suppose to get. Tell us something,.....anything.

It was getting so bad that I had to have a heart-to-heart with Taku over this, yesterday, so I expect/hope to see something on their web site this week.

The Vision cars are controlled by the manufacturers, so their release is tied to them, not PD. No mention of the Rhondo track, so I am not sure what is going on there, but hopefully they clear a few of these things up.

Now you can make engine mods and weight reductions in a "lobby" but you STILL cannot change your oil without leaving.  This is problematic for hosts as they cannot reconnect with their own event.

Stockyard is cool but what would be cooler is a way to tell you own a car that is in your stockyard.  Otherwise, you end up buying dupe can cars.

How come the "loaner garage" is all or nothing?  In GT5, a person could use their own vehicle or a loaner.  If you pick loaners now, everyone must use one.  There is no garage option.

Just some ideas on possible improvements.

Also also77, what happened to shuffle races?  Those were fun!!!

at least we know now that if THAT doesn't shake things up, that almost nothing will.  The final indicator will be the giant sucking sound I keep mentioning, sounding like Ross Perot.  Do I need to get some charts out on poster board?  No, I think they'll hear the sucking sound as people run to another title.

I think PD needs to not focus on the NEXT title, but focus on the current one.  I say that because we'll lose faith in their franchise by failing to live up to the commitment to "6", and then we won't necessarily believe any hype about GT7 no matter how good it actually ends up being.  That, and we were promised more lifespan out of the PS3 and that's why we are still using one.  I want more life out of my current system (which I repurchased this fall after one died - purchased again mainly because GT6 was on it) before I ever think about buying a PS4.

So, selling a ps4 should not be SONY's primary objective with GT as a franchise.  It should be to give the PS3 a proper "finale" and prove that when they commit to something, they can stick to it.  (realizing that SONY has a lot of say over PD's priorities)  THEN, with a faithful, loyal customer base, they can sell us anything they want on the next system.

Harm to reputation is more harmful to a company's bottom line than glitzy new features can compensate for.  Microsoft lost me because of the built-in surveillance on the Xbone, and SONY is going to lose me by not living up to commitments.  But there's still ample time to prove me wrong on that.  So I await...
