One of you smart guys should put together a start up PC build. Something with a few years down the road in mind. Just a kind of bench mark build.

both have people post builds that fit a variety of needs.

Newegg has lots of videos explaining things too, so that is very nice.

Also, a lot of the "being smart about computers" thing isn't really about innate ability, but just knowing what all the current buzz terms are... once you watch a few videos and read a few things, it's not difficult to understand at all.

For those of us constantly using WinRAR, this may be my favorite minor hack of all time.

How to get rid of the annoying Purchase WinRAR message that pops up every damn time you open it.

First, click this to download & install Resource Hacker - http://angusj.com/resourcehacker/reshack_setup.exe

Then watch this video.  MAKE SURE TO START RESOURCE HACKER AS ADMIN.   Right click Resource Hacker and choose "Run as Administrator"

Remove annoying pop-up license for WinRaR

I have stopped using WinRAR (I had a giveaway license way back when) for a long time since it does not really support unicode. 

For general unzip and zip feature, I found that 7Zip is sufficient.  The one up of WinRAR has over 7Zip would be the "Repair" feature in WinRAR, however, I never managed to get the repair to works for me on a broken zipped file.
