Sorry Feldynn.  I didn't mean to hijack the thread with bad thoughts.  You do a great job throwing out evnets weekly.  :)

I am guilty of a similar offense in I started talking about console vs. tower, sorry Feld. But thats the way the Tunaverse works the talk flows instead of being tied down to appropriate avenues.  ;)

It's all good fellas, the conversations flow where the currents lead them  ;D.

And thank you all for coming out too, I'm sorry you had the connection issues this week Brindle but I appreciate that you did try to get in :).  It was definitely a lot of fun, goos racing and goos times!

I think one of the bigger issues is the ability for anyone to set up a room. So far when I have raced in AC if I want to run online I have to wait until I know either Brindle or Wiz will be on. Whereas in GT any of us can set up a room and let others filter in as they want.

Not really looking or trying to keep the tower/console debate going..... but just want to point out that this isn't true.

Anyone with AC (or any of the PC sims for that matter) can run their own server.

In the old COD days you (it's been a long time) Created a shortcut of the EXE, I seem to recall setting some parameters in a text file and that was about it. You just clicked that EXE to start your server, then fire up the game as normal and join your server.

I haven't checked how it's done in AC itself but going on past experiences the concept is essentially the same as in GT, though in practice it can be a little more complicated / inflexible on PC than it is on console.

It "should" mostly just be a case of going to the Multiplayer section and selecting the create a new server / session option, choosing whatever track / car settings you want and hitting the GO button.  Hopefully Steam takes care of most of the network related configuration but if you want to change cars / tracks you'll likely have to restart the server / session completely, though AC may be different I seem to remember in Race 07 you couldn't change cars / tracks on the fly like you can in GT.

I've got 4 days of sitting on my ass coming up starting Thursday, so perhaps I'll use some of that time to write up a tutorial on how to setup an AC server.

This makes better sense. As I recall in COD there were 2 EXE's single and multi. And a separate exe/text file rowed the boat.
