Helmets and Racing Suits
I was able to "gift" 16 helmets and 16 racing suits. (along with 5 parts, 5 paints, and 1 car -- as usual) It appears there may not be a gift limit for those type of items; might have been able to "gift" more but 16 was all I had...
I managed to max out my Gift Box today (50 is the total you can receive) sending stuff from my other account lol, I'm fairly sure there isn't a limit on how many helmets / race suits you can send (or if there is it's high) but I wouldn't be surprised if they added one later, here's a quick list of what I'd sent myself..
22x Race Suit
18x Helmet
5x Parts (transmission in this case)
4x Paint Chips
1x car / ticket
While the race suits / helmets do seem like a bit of a left field content update I have to wonder if it's not, in fact, going to be a gateway to future content and updates. The most obvious is promotional marketing junk, imagine all the free trademark advertising they could get on there through codes on products.. I can see a whole line of "official sponsor" race suits and helmets like they already did with that Shick / Edge purple Camaro download for the US.
Then there's the possibility of customizable gear, perhaps only in terms of colour and only for the styles / designs you've already "collected", possibly with paint chip colour matching so you can have a shiny purple helmet and a pink race suit
or just a matching car / race suit. But that in turn could lead to further car customization options, perhaps like two-tone paint schemes or even generic decal sets like racing stripes.
Just speculation though, the potential is there I think but whether PD chooses to go down that road or not I couldn't say.
