I just looked and I got a $10 card.  Why?  I have no idea.  I've only bought GT and Battlefield add ons throughout my PS life.

I expect two PS4 models between about $299 and $399. This will be the sweetspot.

It may be a bit higher now because they announced a large bump up in RAM, to 8 Gb. The type of memory is still very rare and SONY doesn't make it (I believe), so it comes at a price.

If I understand what they're doing correctly, instead of having separate components like a PC does (motherboard with CPU, system RAM, Graphics card with GPU + RAM) they're making it a "onesy" so to speak, so they have the motherboard + CPU + GPU + unified memory .. instead of using separate system RAM and graphics RAM they're simply using 8gb of GDDR5 (graphics card memory) for both applications. 

I could be wrong but it sounds basically like a PC with no RAM of it's own but a whacking great big 8gb graphics card that shares some of it's memory with the main system.

Take 512-1000Mb out for the OS and they still have a large playground.

Well, since everybody is talking about the anticipated release of PS4 and its cost, let's examine the REAL issue.....RELIABILITY.

Does anyone think that they (Sony) are going to sell us a "first offering" of the PS4 that will work reliably and for the most part, indefinitely (like the PS2)?   

Let's be real here, unless they learned their lesson with the friggin' PS3 failures, I for one, will not be buying a PS4 AT ANY COST until it has proven itself in the field.  Sony has established a "credibility" issue and they never really addressed the last issue with the broken solder joints and YLOD.   

I'm on my 3nd PS3 now and there will be NO MOAR!

At this point there is no PS4 in my foreseeable future.
1rd. My massive 1MB speed probably wouldnt handle all the info this thing will need, it can barely keep up as it is now
2th. If its gonna turn into some giant farcebonk thing I just dont care
3nd. We all know now the Sony/PD reliability issues
4rd. I just cant spend the cash they'll want

Croonah, you bring up a good point.  I still have my launch ps2, and to top it off, it still works. Sony definitely needs to get that kind of reliability back.

I don't know, I'm on my 3rd PS2 (and the first 2 were taken apart and fixed many times, until they finally died) while my launch PS3 and my launch X360 are still running strong.  

The DRE issue with the PS2 was huge, you just didn't hear about it much cuz it was pretty easy to fix.  I'd guess I fixed 20 or more myself for friends, coworkers, etc.

That said, your main point still stands, reliability is always an issue with consoles it seems.

Croonah, you bring up a good point.  I still have my launch ps2, and to top it off, it still works. Sony definitely needs to get that kind of reliability back.

Moreover, they need to get some "credibility" back...which comes with the reliability issues.  My PS2 still works and I still love to race in GT4.  And to add to this, I STILL Have my 2001 Sony Surround sound audio system...which works flawlessly and is hooked into my PS3.

one PS2 - age 8 yrs.

Working on 3nd PS3 - age 7 months.

Also, also  Sony has refused to acknowledge ANY issues that are inherent engineering flaws with the PS3.  Moreover, they refuse to help defray the replacement costs.  But they will definitely sell you a new PS3 at retail prices.

Apparently, the worse job you do, the greater the reward.

I'm with you Baked. I don't give a shit if they are only using them offline, but I think we all know they won't stay there.

Thankfully I race with a fun bunch of clean racers. So I don't need to worry about that BS.
