I tried both 2wd cars (Renault and Lancia) but could only get siver at Eiger with them, then gave in to the RS200

The problem with Eiger is the distance ahead they start, the track is short enough the rabbit car gets like 2/3st of a lap or more headstart but the track isn't so short that they get fouled up in traffic like Autumn Ring Mini.  That and the starting car can make it just about impossible, I had a Mini up front the first time when I was learning the track but could only get down to about 8 seconds away, reloaded the event and got a Ford Focus on pole (not sure what year) and caught it near the end of the last lap.

For what it's worth I used the Renault Megane 2.0 IDE Coupe with a couple of power bolt ons and fixed suspension only, won everything with ease except for Eiger but that was a combination of learning the track and the rabbit car up front.

Also I did a quick test at Autumn Ring Mini in the Practice lab and found with SRF on it made me a good 1.5 seconds quicker due to being able to hold more speed through corners and get the hammer down early on exit, almost like I was driving on sports tires instead of comfort, didn't check any other tracks or do tire comparisons.

Looks like this is yet another "expert level event" with SRF forced on, good to know PD thinks we're all beginners and need aids forced on in order to win ::).

Also the OCD has been updated with a selection of Miatas and some GT500 cars mostly.

Maybe some PD programming hack convinced the Seasonal organiser to use a feature he worked so hard on only to see everyone ignore it.  :-\

Since Kaz approves all Seasonals himself, maybe it's his way of giving us the finger for something we said or did. It's not as if he hasn't played with us before. :D

But, overall, besides anything that our imaginations can think up, why would even a beginner need SRF with a Miata? It's not as if any of them are difficult to drive or control. :-\ Just leave the option open to use and it makes everyone happy. They are not doing GT any favours by locking it turned on.

Should we attempt them on comfort hard tires?

 :stoopid:

The seasonal events are lame enough as it is in terms of poor AI and "30+ second headstart / chase the rabbit" format (and some of the obscene power / tire choices) but this is just getting silly, and that's not even counting the other stuff I could grumble about :).

I have to wonder, does PD even know SRF is set on and locked?  If they do know and did it on purpose I'd sure like to know why, does the person(s) that creates the Seasonal events even play GT5 or test them prior to release?

I'm guessing no to this.  I recall one of the GT Academy races where they kept deleting time trials because people cheated.  It was like no one thought to test the track first.

Like I said, Kaz apparently approves all Seasonals. I think that was said in a GTP interview.

OTOH, I also asked SCEA about this with the last one, but got no reply, as usual, so it isn't as if they don't know about our concerns or grumbles.

They can announce all they want. No way I'm buying another console anytime soon.

I hope my PS3 makes it until the PS4 comes out. I'm not holding my breath.
