Raise your hand if you're going to get the free pox-ridden GT-R as soon as you can log on and do the time trial thing?

As pox-ridden as it may be, it's free!  Free pox for everyone!  Err wait..

Done.

SRF is locked on.  I feel a little dirty after doing this.  Took a while to get used to the physics.  Screeching tires are your friends.  If your not losing grip, your not getting as much grip as you can.

Well, Loaded up with an oil change and Zero miles the Nissan GT-R Spec V (GT ACADEMY SPECIAL) is producing 841 HP @ 7400 rpm, Torque is a mere 642 ft-lb, and the weight (after reduction and the other stuff) is 1367 Kilos.   633PP.

Ah, yes Virginia, yet another Nissan GT-RRRRRRRRRRRRRRR for the stable.

So the "newest Kid" on the block puts out nearly 140 HP more than the Stealth Model and about 80 more lb-ft of torque......BUT the difference comes when you compare the weight _ the stealth only 1050 kg, or 327 kilos lighter than the Academy Special.( And I AM comparing apples to apples here).

The Stealth is rated at 661PP

Ho Hum (yawn), wonder what they're offering us for the Holidays - maybe a Nissan (Academy Special
of course) Be-1  - Race ready of course! That and five sets of comfort soft tires,

If I remember correctly, the stealth is a GT500 race car.  How do the academy cars specs compare to a normal Spec V?  I suspect that they are the same or close to it.

Surprisingly enough, the GT-R Spec V '09 is maybe a toudh better:

845HP@7400 rpm
644 lb-ft torque
1367 kilos
645PP

Now again, the GT-Rs are ALL Loaded to the gills with improvements, bolt-ons and oil changes.

The Stock GT-R edges out the Academy Special by:

4 hp,
2 ft-lb of torque,
and 12 PP.  Weight is the same.

Otherwise, other than the paint and wheels, they're a wash!

EDIT: I looked at the '09 GT-R and realized I had put over 400 miles on it, so it has break-in mileage (Did that when doing the Circle grind for b-spec points back in the day, lol).   There may be a slight advantage to the Academy Special when it has  "Break-in mileage" on it

Which, BTW, the Academy Special Race Number cannot be Changed like the Stealth....Grrrr >:(

Can you add any downforce parts to the Academy Special or does it come with built in downforce bits?  I only wonder as with the stripes and black paint it reminds me a bit of that special N24 Schulze GT-R.

There's a new seasonal event, Rick, a time trial that you just have to take part in to get the car.  The only benefit from posting a good time is the cash reward, the car should be given once you put in a time and exit the event back to the GT Life screen.

Nope, no aero parts on the car. Nope, can't adjust, and nope, ya can't add wings and/or ground effects. :-\ Kinda sucks, c
'cause you can add them to the Spec V '09 GT-R.

Oh, yeah, Thanks, PD (for?)  Precisely.

I got to thinking about this and I reckon it was a genius move, I mean look at it this way.. we that celebrate the giving of thanks are likely so stuffed with turkey, pie and other goodies that we're just too full to really bother properly doing seasonal races so these B-Spec ones are great.

Pick a car, start the race, take a nap, collect rewards.  Genius ;D.

Ah, yes, the cup is half full!  Did anyone happen to notice that :GT5 turned one year old on Thursday, November 24, 2011?

Yes, Virginia, the game is a year old already (and still needs work, ).

Notwithstanding, between the DLC (SPA) and the 2.01 up-date, the game is 200% better than the initial release.  We just have to keep PD on it's toes and let them know there is still a long way to go before this title is where it should (could) be.  But then, that's another thread,
